The short version
- Spelling Bee Unlimited gives you a brand-new 7-letter honeycomb every time you press New puzzle. There's no daily cap.
- Every puzzle follows the classic rules: words of 4+ letters, always using the center letter, letters can repeat.
- Every hive has at least one pangram and between 20 and 90 answers.
- Your unlimited games are saved in your browser, so you can come back to any of them.
What is Spelling Bee Unlimited?
Spelling Bee Unlimited is the honeycomb word puzzle without the one-a-day limit. The NYT Spelling Bee gives you a single board every 24 hours. Here, the game builds a fresh hive on demand from our word list of about 30,000 English words, so you can keep playing for as long as you like. It's the same game you know: seven letters, a required center letter, ranks from Beginner to Genius, and a bonus for the pangram.
Players use unlimited mode to warm up before the daily puzzle, to keep going after they've hit Genius, or simply because one puzzle a day isn't enough. Teachers use it for quick vocabulary rounds in class, because every board is different.
How unlimited mode works
- Play the hive on screen. Make words of 4 or more letters that use the gold center letter.
- Press New puzzle when you want a fresh board. You don't have to finish the current one; it's saved automatically.
- Pick up old games any time. Open the list icon in the top bar to see your unlimited games and jump back into one.
- Make your own hive. In the same panel, enter a center letter and six others to create a custom puzzle.
How we build each puzzle
Every unlimited hive is checked before you see it. The generator picks seven different letters, makes sure at least one common word uses all seven (so there's always a real pangram), and only keeps boards with between 20 and 90 answers. That keeps puzzles from being trivially small or overwhelming. The letter S is left out, just like in the newspaper version, so you can't pad your score with plurals.
Share a hive with a friend
Every unlimited puzzle has its own ID. When you press Share your score, the message includes a link to that exact hive, so a friend can open the same letters and try to beat you. It's an easy way to run a head-to-head round at home or in a classroom.

Is Spelling Bee Unlimited unblocked?
In most schools and offices, yes. It's a single lightweight web page with no downloads, plugins or pop-ups, so it loads on Chromebooks and work computers anywhere ordinary websites are allowed.
Tips for long unlimited sessions
- Set a goal per hive. Genius on every board, or the pangram in under five minutes.
- Practice one skill at a time. Spend a session only on endings like -ING and -ED, using our word endings cheat sheet.
- Check what you missed. After a board, open it in the solver and read the words you didn't find.
- Learn the repeats. Some words show up constantly; see common Spelling Bee answers.
